Studies of stochastic gravitational waves based on pulsar timing data

Project description

Conducting research in the field of stochastic gravitational background by working with pulsar timing data. The study of pulsars makes it possible to calculate the delay time of the arrival of a light signal from theoretical values and to build models for calculating gravitational waves with a wavelength of the order of the size of galaxies that formed during the era of inflation.

Target outcome

Models of the formation and propagation of the gravitational background with a methodology for isolating isolated sources are constructed.

Investigation of wormhole dynamics

The central and most significant task of this project is the precision calculation of the spectrum and profile of gravitational waves emitted during the collapse of theoretical wormholes. This problem is solved using complex numerical modeling methods based on high-performance computing clusters using graphics accelerators (GPUs) and the GRTeclyn project software infrastructure. A fundamental feature of our problem statement is the setting of initial conditions without the involvement of exotic matter. In such conditions, a wormhole turns out to be unstable by definition, which inevitably initiates its gravitational collapse. The simulation describes in detail the highly dynamic evolution of pure space-time during this collapse, which determines the physical characteristics of the potential outgoing radiation.

Development of a lunar phase laser rangefinder

Implementation of the flagship scientific project on the basis of the Moscow State University Traffic Police on the laser location of the Moon to study the stochastic gravitational background. The key task is to create a phase laser rangefinder on the basis of the Kislovodsk Mountain Observatory. The project is aimed at fundamental research, but it also has practical applications — monitoring objects up to 40,000 km high orbits.

Spectral tomography of the Sun's surface based on the ATB-1 telescope of the Moscow State University Traffic Police

Restoration and commissioning of the Moscow State University Traffic Police Solar tower telescope and further research: obtaining spectral tomograms of the Sun's surface to study physical conditions in the near-surface layers of the Sun's atmosphere in order to study solar activity. It also includes spectroscopic studies of the atmosphere over Moscow to accurately determine the level of pollution.
