Public opinion as a driver of the space industry: Frontiers of Science Guild at Innoprom

Sergey Mardanov, Director of Business Development in Education and Science at the Frontiers of Science Guild, spoke at the Innoprom International Industrial Exhibition in Yekaterinburg . In his report, he outlined the key role of public opinion in the development of space technologies and stated his desire to make Moscow one of the leading space capitals in the world.

" There will be no big breakthroughs without public opinion," Sergei Mardanov is convinced. According to him, the interest of a wide audience in space is becoming an important factor influencing government support, private investment and the human resources potential of the industry.

The speaker identified three areas where public opinion plays a crucial role:

• The government support driver. The example of China, where a public space development strategy, including the creation of the Tiangong space station, has allowed for faster decision-making and attracted private capital.
• A magnet for investment. The success of SpaceX, Blue Origin, and Virgin Galactic is not only the result of technological breakthroughs, but also the result of massive interest that convinces investors to invest in "space dreams."
• Motivation for young people. Developing the image of private space helps attract graduates from leading universities to the industry and forms a talent pool for new startups.

Sergey Mardanov paid special attention to the potential of the Russian capital. 

We want to Moscow has accumulated key specialists, teams, and companies to conduct key research here, from dark matter to gravity. Moscow should become a global center of science fiction turned into reality," he said.

The Frontiers of Science Guild intends to contribute to achieving this goal by supporting projects at the intersection of science, engineering and business.

Innoprom is one of the largest industrial exhibitions in Russia. This year, it brought together more than 1,000 companies from Russia, the Middle East, Europe and Asia, as well as official delegations from 60 countries.
