Ilya Cech spoke at PHDays Fest: "Fundamental research should be transformed into commercial products"

Founder of ANO Frontiers of Science
Ilya Cech took part in the International Cyberfest Positive Hack Days Fest,
organized by Positive Technologies. On the Kulibin stage, he presented a topic
that unites science, technology and business: how
to turn fundamental discoveries into ready-made commercial products.
In his speech, Ilya Cech
gave a classic example of how theoretical research changes
everyday life. Discoveries in the field of quantum mechanics led
to the creation of semiconductors, and then to the invention of the transistor. "That's why you
're reading this text on your phone or computer screen right now," Ilya emphasized,
vividly demonstrating the path from basic science to a product without which
the modern world can no longer be imagined.
Another example of successful
commercialization, which the expert cited, is related to the Motorika company.
Fundamental research in the field of neural interfaces has made it possible to create
a feedback device. In 2021, with his help
, an operation was performed to "sensitize" the prosthetic arm — the patient was able to feel
touch. The details of the intervention, including the surgeon's comments, are published
on the Habr portal.
Ilya Cech also spoke about two
promising developments that are currently in the portfolio of the Frontiers
of Science Guild and will be commercialized in the future.
Lunar phase laser rangefinder
is a technology that allows you to determine the location of any object at an altitude of up to
40,000 kilometers from the Earth's surface. The solution may find application in space
navigation and monitoring.
The 435 nm photobioreactor is an installation
that in the future will be able to provide oxygen to offices, industrial
enterprises and high—rise buildings directly on the Ground. The project is based on
the use of microalgae and LED radiation of a strictly defined
spectrum.
Ilya Cech and
a number of other speakers at PHDays Fest were hosted by Roman Pereborshchikov
, founder of the Gutenberg Smoking Room project, which is
one of the Guild's portfolio projects.
Along with the "Gutenberg Smoking Room” We want to give a boost to “Citizen Science” in Russia. Once upon a time, space flights grew out of circles of enthusiasts, and since then many initiatives have been carried out by people united by some kind of goal, be it environmental initiatives or solving medical problems," commented Ilya Cech. — It is important to involve schoolchildren, students, entrepreneurs, and specialists in various fields in scientific projects. And the audience of the festival is ideally suited for this task, ideas can be conveyed here. Guilds before developers and company owners.
The organizers of the festival and representatives of the Guild noted that the synergy of technological entrepreneurship, science and mass involvement of enthusiasts opens up new opportunities for creating innovative products that can change the future.
